Soaking Worship (or Soaking Music) is music that helps people connect with God's presence. In today’s cluttered world, where we busy ourselves with electronic distractions and activities that require rushing to and fro, it is so important we find moments of peace and rest. “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.” Psalm 37:7
The key to finding this place of real peace is soaking prayer. It is a term to describe the practice of taking time to rest while inviting the Holy Spirit to fill you again with His amazing love. God wants this kind of soaking prayer to become a habit because He wants our love, not merely our labor.
Instrumental soaking music helps a person to become still by setting the atmosphere that enables a person to open his or her heart. Elisha called for a musician when he wanted to move in the supernatural. Today, both individuals and churches regularly use this type of soaking music to facilitate times of waiting on God’s presence.
The Bible unpacks the connection between stillness, worship and revelation, “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10. Simply paraphrased, “the place of relaxation is the place of revelation”. As we soak in God’s presence, we begin to see Him. And as we do, we become like Him. 2 Cor. 3:18 "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."
So soaking prayer music helps you draw close to God. God has promised that as you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you and you will experience His presence in ever increasing measure. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul.” Psalm 23:1-3
